Senior Project Manager

Civil earthworks and Forestry Roading Contractors

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our business, who is seeking autonomy with variety, career progression and working for an established, supportive and successful team who are GOOD to work for.

About Us

Gair Contracting is a specialist Forestry Roading and Civil earthoworks contractor based in the Hawkes Bay. Gairs is a division of Goodman Contractors, one of New Zealand’s largest earthworks civil contractors based in Waikanae, working across a diverse range of major projects.

Gair Contracting are recruiting for a senior Project Manager with the opportunity to progress to the Branch Management role reporting back through to Goodman Contractors.

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact.  You would have managed a range of small and large civil projects with expertise in earthworks, drainage and roading.  You will need to have experience in planning, resourcing and coordinating delivery of your projects from start to finish.

The position reports to the current General Manager with a restructure proposed for the position to transition to a Branch Management role reporting back to Goodmans.

A tertiary qualified engineer is preferred, but we would not discount someone that has a range of experience built up over many years who could prove successful delivery of civil projects and teams in their career.  You will need a good understanding of all relevant NZS Standards and industry specifications. If you have a B-Grade Quarry Manager qualifications, this would be advantageous.

The ability to lead through a positive means while also driving a positive safety culture, working to ‘best for project outcomes’ will be another key strength of yours, as well as having a collaborative approach to working with all parties.

You will need to take ownership and accountability for your work, managing you own project workload from tendering, financial controls, stakeholder management and staff development through to practical completion.

Sounds GOOD? then we would like to hear from you.
